Habitat Enhancement
The Trans-Pecos Bird Conservation is always looking for ideas, opportunities, and projects for enhancing bird habitat throughout the Trans-Pecos region. Projects may involve local, state, or national parks, private landowners, or non-profit organizations.
Christmas Mountains Oasis Improvements
This project, thanks to a group of TBC volunteers who competed in the Great Texas Birding Classic, was funded with a 2021 grant. The project involved the construction of two new viewing shelters and the addition of a new self-contained water feature for birds and a recently completed raised bench for viewing. The owner of Christmas Mountains Oasis maintains a blog of this magnificent oasis and birding hotspot, and you can find it by clicking on the image above.
The Nature Conservancy Davis Mountains Preserve Improvements
This improvement project was also funded with a $10,000 Great Texas Birding Classic grant in 2022 and construction of the project should be completed in summer 2024. The project involves the construction of a photo blind and self-contained water feature for birds.
